Bluetooth access control with modular hardware and keypad authentication
The Bluetooth Smart Door Lock System is an embedded hardware project that combines wireless access control, password authentication, and solenoid-based locking. Developed by Devoforge, the system separates the user interface from the lock actuation hardware through two Bluetooth-connected units: a portable transmitter and a stationary receiver. The project covers embedded firmware, custom PCB planning, power management, mechanical prototyping, and system integration.
What Stands Out
The system’s main design decision is its modular two-unit architecture. A portable control panel handles keypad input, password validation, lock selection, and status feedback, while a separate controller receives validated commands and operates the selected solenoid through a relay. This separation supports a clearer division between user interaction and physical lock control, while allowing the design to manage multiple locks.
The project is positioned as a product development and prototyping example…
